Oh - you've arrived! Take a beat. Sink in. Something unusual is always en route. We’ll fetch you a drink — or maybe a thought that lingers longer than it should.

A Novel Art Department isn't a gallery in the usual sense, it's a soft landing, a side-step, a place shaped by life's quirks and contradictions. There are no directions here, but you may stumble across something that feels quietly clarifying.

Here, objects over stay their welcome. Some are one-of-a-kind. Others appear briefly, then move on. They don't simply sit still - they lean, they listen, they flirt. You might shift to meet them - or they might shift to meet you.

Nothing here is timeless. Everything is tuned to the moment. Soaked in late light, side-eye glances and too-good-to-be-background energy.

Things arrive slowly, or all at once. Sometimes with notice. Sometimes without.
We are a gallery without closing hours. A department with no boundaries.

Welcome to A Novel Art Department.
Things may get a little unusual.

A Note from the Artist-in-Residence

A Novel Art Department began as a way to hold the things I kept returning to — art, objects, rooms, sound, clothing, and the quiet intimacy between them. I’m drawn to spaces that feel lived-in rather than polished. Where ideas can be considered without overworked. And work be serious without taking itself too seriously. The department functions as a framework — a place to test ideas, host guests, and allow collections to unfold in their own time. Some pieces are made slowly. Others arrive all at once. If something here follows you home, that’s intentional.
